Dear Parents and Educators,
Right now life feels a little like the movie Groundhog Day, doesn’t it? The same day repeating itself over and over again. It’s okay to pause for a moment and take a deep breath. Remind yourself that you are doing the best you can. (You are.) And then let us help you refresh your routine. We’ve added more FREE resources to our website for you: Hands-On STEM Challenges and Writing Lessons.
The STEM challenges include activities that can be carried out with materials found around the house.
They follow the engineering design process, and encourage children to make predictions, inquiries, and observations, and plan and carry out investigations. Kids will analyze and interpret data, and construct explanations and design solutions. Available for grades 1–5. Feel free to adapt the different challenges to your child’s interest and ability level. Try them all!
The writing lessons include ways to build a story using dialogue, setting, questions, feelings, and other ideas. They introduce the use of onomatopoeia, interrogative words and sentences, prepositional phrases, transitions, and the use of memories, wishes, and decisions to close a story. Available for grades 3–4 and 5–6.
